Two exotic breed Kathals (Jackfruit) go missing from the tree, in the garden of an MP's house in a small town. Police inspector Mahima is assigned the case. The whole police unit is under a lot of pressure to find the kathals before they get ready to eat. The chief suspect is the gardener of the house who was recently fired, but when Mahima finds the garden, it is discovered that his daughter has been missing for days while the police is ignoring all cases to look for the kathal. Mahima uses trick by showing that Kathals are been stolen by gardener daughter in order to find her in name of finding kathal. How Mahima manages to juggle the high profile kathal case and also investigate the missing girl case makes the premise of this light hearted comedy which is actually a satire on government system.

Just finished watching it. It's one of those sincerely made low budget movies that leave a lasting impact on the viewers due to strength of their story and performance of the actors.
Kathal touches so many burning issues like gender discrimination, caste system, inefficient state institutions, corrupt politicians etc, but the best thing about this movie is that it never goes over the top and too serious about them. As another viewer pointed out all the actors have performed tremendously well and have done complete justice to their roles. Director has done a commendable job too.
All in all this is a feel good movie that successfully conveys it's message in a light and funny way.
